Looking at the photo below, you’d think nothing was wrong – the cake looks like a pretty good picture of the jump drive. Maybe it was for the company that manufactures the jump drives right? Until you realise that the cake is supposed to show what was IN the jump drive.

Check it out, it’s hilarious (via the Cake Wrecks blog)
[answering phone] “Cakey Cake Bakery, Jill speaking! How can I help you?”
“Hi, I need to order a cake for my boss. We have a photo of him playing golf that we’d like to put on it, though – can you do that?”
“Of course! Just bring the photo in on a USB drive and we’ll print it out here.”
“Great, I’ll bring it by this afternoon.”
Later…
“Hey, Jill, what am I putting on this cake?”
“Oh, check the counter; I left the jump drive out for you there.”
[calling from the back room] “Really? This is what they want on the cake?”
“Yeah, the customer just brought it in.”
“Okey dokey!”

January 11th, 2010 at 5:07 am

heh yeah not many ppl know that. hmm do you have any other second majors at CMU or just IS? i guess school is rather tedious.
btw if i have any questions about Vodien should i ask you or send an email to the website’s contact instead?

heh just IS, i’m doing my masters now.
i can definitely take general questions, but if u have account-specific questions, it’ll be better and faster if u drop an email or call the website’s contact, because it’s a 24/7 manned line
you needing a site? drop me an email, or msg me at FB or something

Oh my word! An awesome illustration of how important effective communication in the workplace is. Mistakes like this cost big money! This is definitely one for the “funnies” file on my computer.
