Budget, Fast, and Easy Meals #2
I’m going to show you a very simple way to get your daily serving of greens with just some broccoli, carrots and Parmesan cheese. All this stuff can be bought from your local grocery or supermarket, so it’s easy.

Just cut off all the unwanted part of the broccoli, and slice it into bite-sized chunks. Next shave the carrots and also slice them up into bite-sized chunks. Dump them all into a container (I used a metal container) and place this into a pot, half-filled with water. Now cover the pot, and leave it to boil for 5-8 minutes. Once that’s done, your meal of veggies is done! You can add Parmesan cheese now and if you like it a little more melted, just microwave the whole bowl for a minute. Done ![]()

Gaining Insight and Clarity When You Leave Your Comfort Zone
I think everyone should get out of their comfort zone. That may mean uprooting yourself from your daily routine, even leaving your country for a while, “abandoning” all of your friends and family for a period, and just immerse yourself in a totally different environment and culture. Meet new people, talk to strangers, experience new things. The insight and clarity that you gain is indescribable. I think I was disillusioned for a bit, but ever since I did the whole move-to-an-entirely-new-country thing, I’m already getting a better feel about what I want to do and become.

Cool Inventions To Protect Your Valuables
I love browsing through Amazon.com because you never know what you’ll come across. Like this bunch of really cool inventions that help protect your valuables in the most ingenious ways.
Just look at the hidden wall safe that looks like a power outlet - who would think to unscrew this and look inside? Or the can of Del Monte Fruit Cocktail that’s actually a safe? Maybe if the burglar’s really hungry, but come on - what are the chances! These are definitely so much better than stashing valuables in your bedroom dresser, because that’s the first place burglars would look. Neat!

GMC Yukon XL Road Bike!
I just bought the GMC Yukon XL Road Bike that I intend to use to commute and just generally ride around Pittsburgh with. More pictures will come, but here’s something that I learnt about changing gears on the GMC Yukon XL road bike.
It comes with 2 shifters, one on your left and one on your right. Both shifters involve a small thumb-tab and pushing the brake lever inwards. For the right-hand shifter, pushing the little thumb-tab shifts to a HIGHER gear, while pushing the brake lever inwards shifts to a LOWER gear.
Similarly, on the left-hand shifter, pushing the thumb-tab shifts gears to the SMALLER gear, while pushing the brake lever inwards shifts to a LARGER gear.

Best LCD Monitor - Acer 24″ LCD Monitor
I needed a large screen to do my work on, and I was aiming for a 24″ because it’s capable of showing 2 A4 screens side-by-side. I went shopping online and very nearly got a Dell 24″ LCD monitor, but thankfully Dell rejected my Singapore-based Paypal account, because I found a refurbished Acer 24″ LCD monitor that TigerDirect.com was selling for nearly $100 off. The reviews were good, the specs were good, and the price especially was good, so I grabbed it
The only drawback is that it only comes with a 3-month warranty, but I’m not too concerned with that because my reasoning is that refurbished units are almost guaranteed to work since they’ve been given a thorough-enough check, and the 3-month warranty is long enough to cover any manufacturer’s defects (which should appear within 3 months). So I think it’s absolutely worth it!
After waiting for a few days, it arrived at my doorstep:

Very well-packaged!
The reason why I got a 24″ LCD and not a 22″ LCD is because typical 22″ LCD monitors can only display 1680×1050, and 24″ LCD monitors offer the jump to 1920×1200 that I wanted.
Here’s how my screen looks. I have a browser window showing CNN.com on the left, and another window open on YouTube.com on the top-right. In the bottom-left corner, I have a MSN window open:

I thought a 24″ LCD would be unwieldy and huge, but it’s actually not that big - here’s how it looks on my desk. That’s a standard-size keyboard, mouse, and mug:

I know TigerDirect.com occasionally has some of these great deals on refurbished units, so check them out, and if they’re available, grab them!
