Free ZenCart Templates / ZenCart Themes / Zen Cart Skins

If you’re thinking of creating an online ecommerce store, then you’ve probably seen the exorbitant prices that web design firms charge for creating a customised ecommerce shopping cart system.

Well, the good news is that there are really powerful open-source (read: free) software available that can do a good job. That’s right - not just cheap, but really free. ZenCart’s a great example of a free ecommerce store - it’s a customised branch of the popular osCommerce shopping cart software. There are thousands of successful live ZenCart stores, so it’s a proven, reliable shopping cart - one of the best you can get for that price!

The only trouble you have when you’re dealing with open-source software like ZenCart is the fact that the default template’s really ugly - functional no doubt, but it really shouldn’t be used for your live ecommerce store.

So you will need templates - nice looking templates that lend your ecommerce store some measure of credibility, so that your potential customers will actually become your customers. Now if you’re interested, TemplateMonster has some really nice templates. Problem is, the templates cost around USD $150.

The alternative is free ZenCart templates. However, they aren’t that common, and they’re pretty hard to find. I’ve been sourcing around for free ZenCart templates, and I’ve put all the templates that I found into a list of free ZenCart templates below. Enjoy!

    Hello ~

I have found a “free” theme that I would like to apply to my new, existing Zen Cart, shopping cart…later I would like to feed it into my products tab of my website, and eliminate the current product graphics, altogether.

In the meantime my question to you, being a non-technical person, and just an average Jane is this: do I need someone to help me install the theme? It isn’t anything I really understand with all the files, not knowing where they are, like are they with my host? Is that where I download to?
Do I use my zen shopping cart url, in this process?

    Lost in space? huh???@zoning.com

Do you know if the book that Zen Cart offers on their site, which is supposed to be easy for a lay person to understand, covers themes being downloaded and applied to an existing zen cart?

I am confused, tired, determined, in need of support in this matter, and honest guidance…with an extremely thin, thin wallet. I have built the website over a long time, and now am at the shopping cart stage.

My current host has cPanel and Fantastico, and I’m wondering if the key to installing the theme is there? Originally, the man who “man’s” the site was very helpful, but now he is always referring me to tutorials, which I gladly read, but some are more advanced and I don’t understand them.

His website’s don’t offer the creativity that my site-builder does on my other site, and it is hosted by another company, but I can’t seem to find such a fine WYSIWYG editor, it’s awesome and I can whip around it like a pro.

Bottom line on that…he want me to use one of his websites, but I want to use my existing website for now, and use the Zen Cart because it offers the functionality I want, only I need to get a theme installed, because you’re right it’s wayyyy ugly! Can guide, advise, referr, teach or something to help me.

Thank you for listening, you must have really long ears!
